EXPERIENCE SUMMARY
Judith Kirkpatrick currently teaches undergraduate courses in English literature and composition at the University of Hawaii. She is the faculty coordinator of the College's cross-curricular emphasis on Information Technology which supports faculty using technology in curriculum development, and has taught online courses as part of her work load since 1998. She has developed and taught courses in computer networked classrooms and on the Internet in American Literature, the short story and novel, first-year composition, advanced expository writing, writing for the web, and writing for interactive multi-media. Ms. Kirkpatrick coordinated the NSF funded Hawaii Educational Research Network (HERN) research project for 325 teachers on campus in 1995, hosted the Computers and Writing national conference on campus in 1997, has recently been elected to the Executive Committee of the national Conference on College Composition and Communication (CCCC's) and works in a Campus Compact sponsored grant project, Making a project, Making a Civic Investment.
CURRENT FIELDS OF INTEREST
Ms. Kirkpatrick's current research and development covers distributed learning assessment tools, developing civic awareness and action as an outcome of the college learning experience, and improving outcomes based program assessment tools through digital portfolio development.
