Understanding the significance of assessment in our institutions, the Wo Learning Champions co-sponsored a one-day workshop with Kapi‘olani Community College on February 18, 2002. This workshop came on the heels of a two-day forum involving Kapi‘olani’s 16 institutional partners in the Association of American Colleges & Universities Greater Expectations project. Representatives from Portland State, Alverno, King’s College and Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis stayed an extra day and provided a workshop on “Integrating Learning and Assessment in a Liberal Education”.

Participants included faculty and staff from across all the institutions in the community college system. From their responses to the workshop, it is clear that more work needs to be done on understanding and conducting assessment in our institutions.
